Recommended Deadlines

If you live in Maryland, it is best to submit the FAFSA prior to March 1 for the coming school year. The next year's FAFSA will be available on January 1. If you missed the March 1 deadline, you can still complete your FAFSA (link to fafsa.gov) and should do so as soon as possible.

*This is the recommended date.  A financial aid file is considered complete when all requested documentation has been received.

Step 1.  Turn in all documents before your specified deadline (see above). Processing time can take up to 4 weeks. If you have an “incomplete” file, you must sign up for the payment plan by the due date to avoid the Drop Zone. If you have a “completed” file but are waiting for the award, you must sign up for the payment plan by the due date to avoid the Drop Zone. Log into People Soft as you may qualify for the deferred pending aid payment plan at no cost.

Step 2.  Check for awards on PeopleSoft Self Service. If award showing in PeopleSoft is greater than your tuition balance, no further action is needed. If additional information is requested, it will show up on your To Do List in PeopleSoft.

Step 3: If you are not awarded financial aid by your specified payment due date (above), OR if your award does not cover ALL CHARGES, you will be dropped from classes unless you pay your outstanding balance or enroll in the payment plan prior to your due date. You can initiate the payment plan through your PeopleSoft Self Service or contact the Student Accounts Office (301.846.2658) if you have any questions.
