Tuesday Lunchtime Recital Series

Selected students and guest faculty members from FCC’s Music Program perform in a collaborative monthly format. Free and open to the public. Studio Theater F142
Saturday, February 25, 12 -3:30 p.m. Percussion Day
FCC Faculty Percussionist Greg Herron leads this annual event with nationally recognized percussion performers and educators. Special guest percussion ensembles performances from Linganore High School; Urbana High School; and the Thunder Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps will start the program. Followed by a total percussion clinic by Greg Herron and concluding with a drum set clinic by Steve Fidyk. Door prizes provided by Vic Firth Drumsticks, Vater Drumsticks, Remo Drum Heads, Zildjian Cymbals and Mapex Drums. There will be plenty of "hands on" opportunities throughout the day. Drummers, percussionists, and percussion enthusiasts won't want to miss this once-a-year percussion extravaganza! JBK Theater. Admission is FREE!

Jonathan Cresci Faculty Trumpet Recital
Emerging Artist Jonathan Cresci will perform a charming selection of American compositions showcasing a variety of textural and tone color possibilities for the trumpet, cello and piano. Assisted by cellist Doug Jameson and pianist David Foley, this vibrant trio will explore the works of the Copland, Ewazen and more. As a special treat faculty Lynn Staininger will perform musical settings of Ogden Nash’s 4 comedic poems Animal Ditties

Mary Gresock Faculty Voice Recital
FCC voice faculty Mary Gresock will be joined by vocalists Laura Halick and Jennifer Suess to perform trios and vocal duets from Opera to Broadway. A special musical salute to the Andrews Sisters and Gershwin's most popular hits will set your toes tappin' and fingers snappin'! Join us for an afternoon of musical delights! JBK Theater. The Frederick Community College Music Department celebrates Jazz in April with concerts and special guest artists all month long. Jazz in April kicks off the month with a double arts event celebration. FCC’s Jazz Workshop with special guest Craig Gildner, will explore the music of timeless classics of Tin Pan Alley and Broadway Musicals. This
dynamic swing band leader, male vocalist, guitarist and pianist will join forces with selected students to explore the intimate setting of a wide variety of jazz combos. Join us as we continue in our month long celebration with the U.S. Navy Band Commodores. Jazz is America’s music and the Commodores, the Navy’s premier jazz ensemble, have been performing the very best of big band jazz for the Navy and the nation for more than 40 years. FCC’s premier jazz ensemble will feature the innovational jazz group Otherworld
led by pianist Jeffrey Chappell as they pay tribute to jazz legend Thelonious Monk. Otherworld
creates compelling works by playing a mix of acoustic and electric instruments, and blending jazz, classical, and Middle Eastern influences. JBK Theater. Join us for this Faculty/Student recital to pay tribute to the music of North and South American composers. From the well-known compositions of George Gershwin and Aaron Copland to the lesser- known treasures of Teresa Carreno and Astor Piazzolla this recital will showcase how folk elements from these composers' diverse cultures have influenced classical music. This is an Artist Series collaborative project between FCC music faculty and continuing education adult students to promote life-long learning. F142 Studio Theater. Free Admission.
