CALM Awards to Honor FCC and Student Leader
03/30/2015
Frederick Community College and one of its student leaders will be honored tonight at an award ceremony recognizing unsung heroes in the community.

Community Alternative Mediation, Inc. (CALM) is holding its 12th Annual Gala Evening and Awards Presentation to honor its 2015 Peace Crafters Awardees at the Dutch’s Daughter in Frederick.

FCC is being recognized with the Partner Organization Award. Student leader Kavonte Duckett will receive the Youth Award. Five other community members are also being honored during the event.

Peace Crafters Awardees are chosen based on their work to promote confliction resolution and improve civility or understanding in Frederick County.

FCC and CALM have worked together to provide students with conflict resolution services, training opportunities, and development initiatives.

Duckett has held numerous leadership roles on campus and in the community. He has been president of the Student Government Association, student member of both the College President's Cabinet and the All-College Senate, and college liaison to the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Student Advisory Council.

CALM is a non-profit community service organization that offers conflict resolution services to help Frederick County residents resolve issues with colleagues, employers, family, friends, neighbors, or other acquaintances. CALM provides education, mediation, community conferencing, and facilitation.
