FCC Hosting Family-Friendly Cooking Demonstration
08/24/2016
The Frederick Community College culinary program will offer a family-friendly, hands-on cooking demonstration on August 27.

“Sweet Summer Fun” will feature chef instructors from the Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute (HCTI) at FCC. Participants will learn how to make a summer dessert with local, farm-fresh ingredients. FCC culinary students will also assist in the event.

The HCTI provides students with a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and practical experience to succeed in the hospitality, culinary, and tourism industries. It offers degree and certificate options which teach essential technical, business, and human relations skills to prepare students for entry-level and supervisory positions.

“This is going to be a fun and educational event for the whole family,” said Elizabeth DeRose, HCTI Manager. “It’s a great opportunity for the public to learn from our expert chef instructors and get a glimpse into the many exciting career programs available at FCC.”

The cooking class is part of Farm to Frederick, a collection of events that connect the local farming community with area businesses, residents, and visitors for the purpose of building relationships toward year-round engagement.

The event will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Monroe Center, located at 200 Monroe Avenue, Frederick. The Monroe Center houses many of the College career programs including the HCTI.

A $5 fee is required per person to cover food costs. Space is limited. To register, visit farmtofrederick.com.
