Motorcycle Safety Courses

motorcycle course scheduleFrederick Community College proudly offers Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) approved Motorcycle Safety courses at FCC’s main campus throughout the year. Training, consisting of classroom and riding time, is provided by instructors certified by the Motor Vehicle Administration and Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
An individual with a Maryland driver’s license who satisfactorily completes the Basic Rider Course (BRC) or the Alternate Basic Rider Course (ABRC) will receive a Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Certificate. This certificate can be presented at any MVA full-service office for a Class "M" license.
The MVA-approved Motorcycle Safety courses offered at FCC include:

  • Basic Rider Course (BRC)
    A 17-hour course designed for riders with little or no experience seeking a Class “M” Motorcycle license. Provides basic riding skills and strategies.

  • Alternate Basic Rider Course (ABRC)
    A 7-hour course especially for riders with some riding experience, seeking a Class “M” Motorcycle license and meeting course pre-requisites.

  • Basic Rider Course 2 (BRC2)
    For licensed riders looking to refresh and improve skills or obtain additional practice after completing BRC, this six-hour program consists of nine riding exercises.
