2020 Recognition of Graduates

Frederick Community College Virtual Commencement

Celebrating graduates from August 2019, December 2019, and May 2020

Nearly 1,000 Frederick Community College graduates have triumphed through the extraordinary challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to successfully complete their individual goals. The entire FCC Community is proud of the accomplishments of our students.

Several months ago, we were hopeful when we communicated with you on April 13, 2020 that we could reschedule the May Commencement for August 13, 2020. Based on physical distancing guidelines and restrictions on large gatherings, we now feel that FCC will be unable to host the 62nd Annual Commencement in the Athletics Center. Therefore, the graduation ceremony scheduled for August 13, 2020 is cancelled.

Commencement is an irreplaceable event that now requires a virtual alternative.

Congratulations to our incredible FCC 2020 Graduates!

Commencement Ceremony Update

Frederick Community College (FCC) hosts an Annual Commencement Ceremony for 1,000 graduates and their families to celebrate the milestone accomplishment of earning a college degree. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced new safety precautions upon society, eliminating the ability to hold large gatherings that were staples of past years.

The FCC May 2020 Commencement Ceremony was postponed until August 13, 2020 with hopes of social distancing guidelines being reduced to allow for large face-to-face gatherings. FCC has decided to proceed with a virtual message to our graduates in lieu of any face-to-face ceremonies, and the August 13 Commencement has been canceled.

We know that nothing can replace the traditional college commencement ceremony that everyone was expecting, but we also know that our graduates are resilient and adaptable. Your graduation is a huge achievement, and we are proud of all of our students’ accomplishments.

Graduation

The cancelation of the Commencement ceremony will not affect students graduating, receiving degrees and certificates, and transferring to other institutions.

Diplomas

Your diploma will be mailed to the address in your PeopleSoft Student Center Account. August 2019 and December 2019 graduates should have received your diplomas in the mail. May 2020 graduates will receive their diplomas in the mail towards the end of July. Your degree becomes official when it is posted to your transcript, not by your participation in commencement exercises.
