Changes for 2018-2019 Financial Aid Processing:

The 2018-2019 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is available to complete www.fafsa.gov now!

The process just got easier and is available earlier! You don’t need to wait for your 2017 income information. The 2018-2019 FAFSA will use prior prior year information. This means the same tax income, 2016, you used last year you will use again!

WE ARE GOING MOSTLY ELECTRONIC

Once you complete your FAFSA form, be sure to check your TO DO LIST in People Soft for items that must be submitted to complete your financial aid process. If we need to contact you, we will be emailing your MyFCC email account. Also, keep checking People Soft for your award updates.

Please Note: If you receive an award that is "Estimated" Loan Amounts, this is our way of letting you know that you may have loan eligibility and the award is estimated based on full time eligibility. This will not hold you in your classes. If you want to apply for a Direct Student Loan, you will need to submit a Direct Student Loan Request Form and complete the electronic steps. Processing can take a few weeks.
HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STATUS OF YOUR FINANCIAL AID??

If you have questions about your status, check People Soft first. If you still have questions, call, email or stop by our office. We will be happy to assist you.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING REQUIRED COURSES

Please be aware that financial aid will only pay for courses that are required for your program. If you have questions as to whether a course is required, you can access the FCC catalog online or contact FCC’s Counseling and Advising Office. You can also review your Degree Progress Report in People Soft for required courses.
CHARGING BOOKS USING FINANCIAL AID

If your financial aid has been awarded AND if your aid (excluding estimated loan amounts) is more than the amount of your tuiton and fees charges, then you have the option to go to the FCC BOOKSTORE and charge your books to your account. Check the current schedule for dates that books go on sale for the coming semester.

The best way to see if your aid exceeds your charges is to obtain a Student Account Summary from the Student Accounts Office on the first floor of J Building. When you register for classes a copy of your student account summary is sent to your MyFCC email account.

Please note: You are required to pay for your books for JanTerm. Bookstore charges will not be allowed. Have questions? Contact the Financial Aid Office. We'll be happy to assist you.
LOAN EXIT COUNSELING
Loan Exit Counseling is required when you are graduating, leaving school, or drop below half-time enrollment (half-time enrollment is defined as at least 6 credits per term at FCC).

Exit Counseling prepares you for loan repayment and provides you with important details regarding your student loan rights and responsibilities and repayment plan options.

Completing Exit Counseling is a federal requirement. FCC requires that all students complete the on-line exit counseling session at www.nslds.ed.gov.

Please contact the Financial Aid Office as soon as you know you will be graduating, leaving school or dropping below half-time.
