FCC Celebrates the Holidays with Festive Concerts
Frederick Community College is celebrating December with holiday concerts featuring a variety of musical groups.
“There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by listening to holiday music that invokes special memories for many of us,” Music Program Manager Jennifer Rundlett said. “Our FCC musical groups bring joy to our community throughout the year, and it’s especially exciting to come together and enjoy their talents during this time of the year.”
A Highland Holiday
Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m.
The Choral Arts Society of Frederick (CASF), directed by Lynn Staininger, will hold two performances of its traditional holiday concert, “A Highland Holiday.” The concert will feature holiday favorites with a Celtic Twist, including Scottish music by Port Righ. There will also be a special appearance from the FCC Handbell Choir, directed by Barbara Scheffter.
The performances will take place in the JBK Theater, located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, students, and military members with ID. Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m.
The FCC String Ensemble, directed by Lynn Fleming, will present “Winter Wonderland.” The concert will range from traditional to contemporary and will feature selections from Handel’s Messiah as well as works by Leroy Anderson and other holiday favorites.
The free concert will take place in the Studio Theater (F142), located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center.
Festive Holiday Favorites
Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
The FCC Wind Ensemble, directed by Aaron Lovely, will perform “Festive Holiday Favorites,” which is popular for families and people of all ages.
This free performance will take place in the JBK Theater. There will be a reception following the concert.
