International jazz stars Jimmie Cobb, Eddie Gomez, and Larry Willis will join the FCC Jazz Ensemble for the popular concert “All That Jazz!,” directed by Howard Burns, on Thursday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of big-band jazz pieces during the first half of the concert. Following an intermission, Cobb, Gomez, and Willis will come together and play the entire second half of this concert.

"We are so excited to bring the Cobb, Gomez, and Willis Trio to Frederick,” said Dr. Jan Holly, Music Program Manager at FCC. “Any jazz aficionado will be very familiar with these names and their many decades of renown in the jazz world. It promises to be an unforgettable musical experience."

Cobb, Gomez, and Willis are legendary figures in the music world. Drummer Cobb is the elder statesman of the Miles Davis Band. Jimmy’s work with Davis, John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley continued from 1957 to 1963 and included the masterpiece "Kind of Blue," the most popular jazz recording in history. He has also performed for Presidents Ford and Carter.

Gomez is a Grammy award winning bassist who has performed with Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Gerry Mulligan, and Benny Goodman. Gomez’s career has also included recording with Bobby Darin, Carly Simon, Art Garfunkel and Judy Collins. His DVD, “An Evening with Eddie Gomez,” was released in 2006.

Willis is a Grammy nominated pianist and two time winner of the New York Jazz Critics Award for his work with Fort Apache. He has performed or recorded with such names as Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Morgan, Woody Shaw, and Cannonball and Nat Adderley. Willis has also written large-scale arrangements for albums by Roy Hargrove, Vanessa Rubin and Joe Ford.
