Giving

Frederick Community College Foundation, Inc. (FCC Foundation) helps students achieve their dreams, whether they’re starting college and plan to transfer, pursuing a career program to become employed as quickly as possible, or attending continuing education classes for career or personal enrichment. FCC Foundation seeks private gifts from alumni and friends, corporations and businesses, faculty and staff, and charitable foundations and organizations to provide scholarships, state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, new and ongoing programs, and professional development for faculty and staff.

Educational opportunity is critical to the future quality of our lives. Your gift ensures that an affordable education is kept within the reach of every student who seeks it. FCC Foundation is happy to assist you in finding the type of gift that best meets your needs. FCC relies on annual support from alumni and friends, corporations and businesses, faculty and staff, and charitable foundations and organizations to provide critical funding for student scholarships, new programs and state-of-the-art facilities. Donors can establish an endowed or non-endowed scholarship for students, support a college department or cause that is meaningful to them, or provide unrestricted dollars to support the daily needs of FCC and its students.

Annual Campaign

The Frederick Community College Annual Campaign - Invest in a Future!

Investing is all about preparing for the future. What could be more important for our future than helping young people reach their full potential by investing in their aspirations?

The Frederick Community College (FCC) Annual Campaign is one way to invest in a future by helping a student achieve a higher education. The college’s biggest need is scholarship gifts. More than 33 % of FCC students receive financial aid, 23 % are from low-income (Pell Grant eligible) families and 27 % are the first in their family to attend college. Unfortunately, without assistance, these students must go into substantial debt or they are unable to complete their studies.  This is why gifts to the Annual Campaign are so important. Every dollar given to the Annual Campaign goes directly to offset student tuition and to provide other support needed for our students to achieve their academic goals.

Your gift to Frederick Community College Annual Campaign will have a valuable and lasting impact. To make a gift, just complete our online giving form.

On behalf of the Frederick Community College Foundation Board and most importantly our students, please accept our sincerest appreciation.

Student Scholarships

One of the top reasons students drop out of college is financial difficulty. Many of our students work full- or part-time jobs - as well as balance family, community, volunteer and personal commitments. Scholarships are often the deciding factor in whether or not a student can attend college.

FCC Foundation Board of Directors is committed to funding all scholarships at a minimum equivalent to a 3-credit class. For 2016-2017, each scholarship is at least $500. In 2016-2017, the FCC Foundation awarded over $500,000 in scholarships to 582 students. An additional $44,000 was awarded in Student Success Funds to 103 students.

If you are interested in creating an endowed or non-endowed scholarship at Frederick Community College, please contact Michael Thornton at 301.624.2851

Endowed Scholarships

Endowed funds ensure that scholarships will be available from year to year. Your original gift is invested through the University System of Maryland Foundation (USMF) and becomes the principal which generates earnings for the fund.

A portion of the earnings is used to award scholarships or to support FCC programs and services (as the donor designates), according to the Foundation's Spending Policy. The remaining earnings are re-invested in the principal to offset inflation. The principal is never disbursed (unless authorized by the donor in accordance with UPMIFA - Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act) so it continues to generate income for future needs.

A gift of $225,000 is required to establish an endowment and can be received as a one-time gift or paid over a period years. As the donor, you designate the name of the fund and the criteria for the scholarship or program.

Non-Endowed

Guidelines for establishing a non-endowed fund to support college programs and services are the same as for student scholarships.

A non-endowed (or "direct") scholarship may be established through a single gift or through regularly scheduled payments.

Scholarships may be disbursed one time, on a semester-by-semester basis, or annually.

The donor designates the name of the scholarship and its qualifications (e.g., county residence; credit load; GPA; financial need; major, etc.)

Programs & Service Funds

Your willingness to support innovative new programs, equipment, and new or renovated facilities is critical to the success of our students. FCC's enrollment growth has provided exciting opportunities as well as challenges. As public funds for higher education decrease, we must increasingly seek private resources for our many initiatives. Your gift helps us provide the relevant and evolving instruction that today's employers and the global economy demand.

You may wish to establish an endowed or non-endowed fund to support college programs and services. Guidelines for doing so are the same as for student scholarships. If you are interested in creating an endowed or non-endowed fund at Frederick Community College, please contact Michael Thornton at 301.624.2851

The FCC Foundation’s Tax ID # is 52-1231768

Matching Gifts

Many companies will match employees' gifts to charitable organizations. A matching gift allows you to double or triple your gift if you or your spouse works for a company that matches gifts. Also, many companies match retirees' gifts.

To find out if your employer offers a matching gifts program, contact your company's human resources department.

Memorial or Honorary Gifts

We welcome gifts made in memory of or in honor of family, alumni, faculty or staff, or other individuals of special importance to you. To make a memorial or honorary gift, please include with your contribution the honoree’s name and address, so we may notify the individual(s) of your thoughtfulness. In the case of a deceased honoree, please also include the name(s) and address of the family member(s) to whom you would like an acknowledgment sent, as well as their relationship to the deceased.

We will send an acknowledgment letter to the donor (including IRS language) and a letter to the honoree or honoree’s family. That letter will include the donor’s name and address, but not the gift amount.

If you are interested in making a memorial or honorary gift, please contact Betheny Reid at 301.846.2479
