Dr. Tony Hawkins understands that creating space for teaching and learning begins with knowing as much as possible about students and what makes them successful.
As his title suggests, Dr. Hawkins has an essential hand in most areas within Frederick Community College (FCC). And while his list of responsibilities may sound overwhelming, his thoughtful insight and calm demeanor make him ideal for the job.
With remarkable proficiency, Dr. Hawkins provides leadership, vision, and oversight of curriculum, programs, academic integrity, training, and professional development of faculty at FCC. His core expertise lies in closing achievement and opportunity gaps for African American and Latino/a students.
Dr. Hawkins understands the impact of race and equity on student success, and adeptly facilitates honest discussion around issues of racial equity for students and staff. As his leadership demonstrates, Dr. Hawkins knows that when you lead with students first, you can’t go wrong.
