Every time a student finishes a project, passes a class, or earns a degree, it’s a win for the entire library team.
Colleen McKnight
Director, Library Services
Colleen McKnight witnesses first-hand each day how overwhelmingly hardworking, dedicated, and persevering Frederick Community College (FCC) students are. As director of Library Services, she works directly with students teaching them how to use the College’s many library resources.
Teaching students the skills to identify, find, and use information that is accurate, authoritative, and relevant enables McKnight to share her propensity for learning while providing robust academic support. After more than a decade at FCC, she still finds greatest fulfillment when witnessing the spark of understanding and excitement in students when they find the resource and information they need to complete an assignment.
As a MOST Commons Library Fellow, McKnight works with Maryland colleges to support the adoption of free and low-cost textbooks. In addition to her efforts to keep books affordable, she works diligently to provide a space where all FCC students, regardless of race, background, gender identity, sexuality, or age, feel comfortable getting help and asking questions.
