Get Free Legal Assistance on Pro Bono Day at FCC
10/31/2024
The Frederick Community College (FCC) Mid-Atlantic Center for Emergency Management & Public Safety (MACEM&PS) is partnering with the Rankin Wilson law firm to offer free legal services on its annual Pro Bono Day. The event will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at FCC on the first floor of Annapolis Hall.

Family, estate planning and administration, real estate, collections, and business law are among the pro bono services being offered. Informational sessions and materials will also be available. Participants will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with volunteer attorneys.

"My firm and I are happy to support this Pro Bono Day,” said Attorney Jennifer Rankin. “This is a great opportunity for us to help members of the community get brief legal advice, information, or a start to their case. There are so many folks who can't afford a lawyer for their entire matter, but if we can help a few get started with good advice and information, that's a start."

“Pro Bono Day is a longstanding campus event where local attorneys lend their expertise and time to help our community,” said Dr. Tracy Parker, attorney and FCC professor of Paralegal program. “It provides FCC Legal Studies students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience implementing the knowledge and skills they have gained through their education. They are able to put their knowledge into practice while learning from experienced attorneys and providing a valuable service to the community.”
