CNA Certified Nursing Assistant
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program teaches students about basic patient care skills, their role as a member of the healthcare team, disease processes, infection control, and safety issues. Students are prepared for the Maryland Board of Nursing state certification as well as the National Geriatric Nursing Assistant exam. This program includes a required 45-hour clinical experience in addition to the classroom/lab. This option does not award academic credit. It is designed for individuals seeking career training or professional development.

Computed Tomography Certificate
The Computed Tomography Certification program prepares students as entry-level CT technologists who are responsible for operating sophisticated equipment, performing venipuncture, and monitoring patients' radiation dose.

Dental Assisting & Dental Radiography
The Dental Assisting program introduces students to all aspects of entry level dental assisting knowledge and skills, and with the addition of Oral Radiography prepares students for the Dental Association National Board National Entry Level Dental Assistant Certification Exam (NELDA). This program provides practice on equipment in a simulated dental lab setting. This option does not award academic credit. It is designed for individuals seeking career training or professional development.

Health and Exercise Sciences
The Health and Exercise Sciences Area of Concentration within the A.A. in Arts and Sciences degree program is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university to work toward a bachelor's degree. A certificate option is available for those working toward the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certification, a nationally-recognized personal training certification. A letter of recognition option is available for those wishing to pursue a career in athletic coaching.

Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant program is designed to prepare students for work as entry-level assistants who perform administrative and clinical procedures in ambulatory settings such as physicians’ offices, clinics, and group practices.

Medical Coding
The Medical Coding program prepares students for AAPC certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Students learn how to use the coding manuals for CPT, ID-10, and HCPCS to describe and document medical services accurately. The program includes the first year of membership in AAPC and the CPC exam. Students will learn the life cycle of a billing claim and how medical insurances work with the billing process in a physician’s office. Basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and introduction to Medical Coding ICD-10 are covered. This option does not award academic credit. It is designed for individuals seeking career training or professional development.

Nuclear Medicine Technology (Discontinued)
The Nuclear Medicine Technology program prepares students as entry-level nuclear medicine technologists in a specialized area of diagnostic imaging which includes both body structure and function. Nuclear medicine technologists perform procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Nursing
The Nursing program prepares students to provide competent, safe nursing care to clients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other comparable health agencies under the supervision of more experienced practitioners. With experience and further preparation, students should be able to assume increasing responsibility in nursing.

Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician course is designed for CNAs or recent CNA program completers interested in advanced care skills with the CNA scope of practice or those seeking work as a tech in hospitals and healthcare settings. Students receive a certificate of completion and meet the requirements for the National Healthcare Association Patient Care Technician certification exam. This option does not award academic credit. It is designed for individuals seeking career training or professional development.

Phlebotomy Technician
Phlebotomy Technician courses prepare students in all aspects related to blood collection. Students will develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely and are eligible to receive a certificate of completion. This program includes a required 100 hour clinical experience in addition to the classroom/lab. This option does not award academic credit. It is designed for individuals seeking career training or professional development.

Pre-Health
The Pre-Health Professions Area of Concentration provides the general education curriculum that prepares students for transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a healthcare-related bachelor’s degree. Students who intend to apply for selective admission to the FCC Nursing, Respiratory Care, or Surgical Technology programs should follow the Pre-Health Professions Concentration pathway specific to those programs to complete the required selective admissions courses prior to applying for their program.

Respiratory Care
The Respiratory Care program prepares students for general careers within the field and qualifies them to take the National Board for Respiratory Care’s entry level and advanced practitioner exams. Students will gain competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).

Sterile Processing Technician
Sterile Processing Technician courses prepare students to meet a critical need in the healthcare industry. Students receive a certificate of completion and prepare to take the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification exam offered by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM). This program offers an externship in addition to the classroom/lab experience. This option does not award academic credit. It is designed for individuals seeking career training or professional development.

The Surgical Technology program provides students with a foundation in the sciences and the principles and practices of the surgical technologist’s roles during the phases of surgery. The essential components of this health career are applied through extensive preceptored clinical experiences.

Veterinary Assistant courses prepare students to be able to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in a variety of settings including clinics and animal hospitals. Students acquire essential skills and knowledge needed to perform the responsibilities of an entry-level position in the field.
