The Medical Billing program prepares students for the AAPC Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification exam with course fees including the cost for exam as well as one year membership in AAPC. The Medical Coding program prepares students for AAPC certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Students learn how to use the coding manuals for CPT, ID-10, and HCPCS to describe and document medical services accurately. The program includes the first year of membership in AAPC and the CPC exam. Students will learn the life cycle of a billing claim and how medical insurances work with the billing process in a physician’s office. Basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and introduction to Medical Coding ICD-10 are covered. This option does not award academic credit.
