Reporting Email Phishing

 

Did you know you can report phishing email in the web and desktop versions of Outlook? 
The IT department highly encourages FCC students and employees to report suspicious email messages by following the instructions in this notification. Outlook will remove reported messages from your inbox for further investigation by the FCC Network Security team.

PHISHING REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS

Outlook Web Access

 

  1. Click on the email that you would like to report as Phishing. 
  2. Click the on the 3 dots at top right-hand side of the email to display email options.
  3. Choose Report to report the email as phishing.
Outlook Desktop Version
  1. In Outlook, highlight the email that you want to report as Phishing. 
  2. In the top Ribbon, you should have a "Report Message” drop down selection.
  3. Choose Phishing to report as phishing. 

Note: The Outlook email reading pane needs to be enabled for the report button to be available.

Remember, whenever in doubt, do report any suspicious email to the FCC-IT Helpdesk by calling 301.846.2509, or online at FCC- Helpdesk . Furthermore, discard suspicious emails, or follow the Outlook reporting instructions.

 

Blackboard

Blackboard is the system used for online courses. Students can complete a course or an entire degree online by using Blackboard.

FCC Single Sign-On


FCC's students log into PeopleSoft, myFCC, and Blackboard with a single user ID and password. Changing or resetting the password on any of these systems will automatically synchronize it for all of them.

FCC Alert FAQs

Q: How do I sign up for FCC Alert messages?

A: If you are a student, faculty or staff member please click the "Signup" link and enter your information.


Q: How do I Opt-Out (remove myself) from receiving FCC Alert messages?

A: Please log into your account to opt-out for e2Campus alerts for your school. You may opt-out of one particular group or the entire service.


Q: What exactly is FCC Alert / e2Campus?

A: e2Campus is a patent pending universal notification system that allows designated administrators to send time-sensitive messages to the mobile phones, email, and/or pagers of their subscribers (students, faculty, staff, radio stations, TV stations, and others). In the event of an emergency, subscribers can get notified immediately of the situation, wherever they are geographically.


Q: What is a universal notification system?

A: A universal notification system is defined as a platform to deliver a notification to an entire audience by all means necessary; therefore creating universal coverage to increase the odds that a particular subscriber received the notification in a timely manner.


Q: What is a notification?

A: A notification is defined as a form of communication that delivers descriptive information about news or an event, unlike a bell or siren that communicates little information.


Q: Do I need to install software and/or hardware in order to have FCC Alert?

A: NO. FCC Alert is a 100% web-based software system, so you do not need any additional software or hardware. All you need is a web browser with an Internet connection and you are up and running! You can look at FCC Alert as a Public Safety "Utility"- always on and ready for action.


Q: Will any person receive unsolicited messages ("SPAM") on their mobile phone?

A: NO. FCC Alert enforces a ZERO SPAM policy which clearly prohibits unsolicited messages, and FCC Alert does not sell the contact information of our subscribers to third party marketers.

Continuing Education & Workforce Development

Continuing Education & Workforce Development (CEWD) students are required to create a student profile account. In order to accurately maintain your student information, please create and use only one profile. If you need assistance with your account, please contact 301.846.2888 or email [email protected].


To set up an account:

 

  • Go to the Create a Student Profile page.
  • Enter a username and password along with contact information (to receive registration confirmations and course updates) and then complete the form to set up your account.
  • For guardians registering younger students, we ask that individual accounts be established for each child.
 

Forgot username or password?

  • Go to the Sign In page and click “Forgot your password” to request a password reset. A reset link will be emailed to the address on file for your account. If you forgot your username, please contact us at 301.846.2888 or email [email protected] for assistance.
 

Note: CEWD students do not register for classes through PeopleSoft. For this reason, CEWD students may not have access to the PeopleSoft system.

Mobile Devices

  • Download official Microsoft Outlook Application from Play store or App Store 
  • Sign in with your FCC credentials 
  • We do not support third party mail applications.
 

Mobile Device Responsibilities

 
  • IT will allow access to institutional resources (Outlook) by personally owned mobile devices.
  • On-campus access to College resources and data on campus is made via a physical or wireless connection. This access is controlled via network policy. Descriptions of these networks and procedures to access them is defined in the Wireless Network section of this document.
  • IT will not directly support hardware or software issues on user-owned devices.
  • IT can only provide limited support with connectivity or configuration relating to access of College resources.
  • IT may remotely remove stored College emails and documents stored on the device. In extraordinary cases, an Office 365 system administrator from the IT department will initiate a remote wipe when the Chief Technology Officer has determined PII or confidential information can be compromised.

All users must acknowledge that they have read and agreed to the complete Technology Use Policy and Procedures to access services and systems on the FCC network.

MyFCC Email

College email accounts serve as an official means of electronic communication. Students, faculty, and staff are expected to check their College email account regularly.

If you elect to forward your College email to another email account, you remain responsible for any material not received because of any defect in the forwarding mechanism or the destination account.

Your myFCC student email address is w + your student [email protected] (Example: [email protected].).

Peoplesoft Campus Solutions

Frederick Community College uses PeopleSoft Campus Solutions as our student information system. This application allows students to search and register for classes, view academic and financial information, pay for classes, see your grades, and print a transcript or class schedule.

Assistance with common PeopleSoft Campus Solutions questions:

What is my student ID / User ID?

Your User ID is a capital W followed by your student id# (example W1234567). You can find your ID# in the blue area on your photo id card (remember - 7 digits) or on your printed schedule or bill. If you are unable to locate your student ID using the information above you can contact the Registration and Records Office at 301-846-2431. If you prefer to see them in person, they are located in the Student Center building (H106), or visit the IT Helpdesk located in Gambrill Hall (G-122). Please bring a photo ID with you.

Where can I find the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Login page?

Navigate to our Frederick.edu site and select the "MyFCC" link at the top of the page. From the MyFCC Student Portal page you can access all of the applications/systems available to students at the College. The PeopleSoft Student Information System is one of the menu options on this page. Your username is W + your 7-digit Student ID (ex. W2345678) How do I get assistance with password and login related issues?

In order to set/reset your FCC password you need to first register within our new password self-service system. This only needs to be completed once. Register to use the new password self-service system at https://myfcc.frederick.edu and click on the "Password Self-Service Registration" icon. Provide the system with two forms of authentication, i.e., mobile phone & alternate email
 
To reset your password at any time after you have registered, visit https://myfcc.frederick.edu, click on the "Reset Password" icon and follow the system’s instructions

If you are unable to successfully register or reset your password using the method above you should contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance; on campus at 3333 or off campus at 301-846-2509 and pressing # to dial the extension and enter #3333 (be sure to press the pound key). Or you can send an email to [email protected]. They can reset your password for you.

How do I request a transcript?

You can request a transcript and they will mail it for/to you. We need the request from you in writing with your signature. You can fax us or mail us a copy of your request or you can email the transcript request form to [email protected]. There is no charge. Please include your name, address, phone number, name and address of where you want it sent, and your signature.
Go to www.frederick.edu; click on Current Students/Transcript Services. Select if you are a regular FCC student or a FEMA student and then download the transcript request form. Our fax number is 301-624-2799 and our mailing address is 7932 Opossumtown Pk, Frederick, MD 21702.
 

How do I apply to the College?

If you have never been a student here or have not attended within the last two years, you will need to complete an online application. After your application is processed you will receive a student id# that you can use to register for classes.
Go to www.frederick.edu, click on Future Students then Admissions then the Apply Now link and fill out your application. After submitting this, you will receive your student ID# in the mail.

What do I need to do if I have not attended classes at FCC within the last two years?

The PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application is only available to students who have been in attendance during the last two years. If you are interested in re-enrolling in classes at FCC you will first need to reapply to the College.

To reapply, go to https://enroll.frederick.edu/portal/apply
Students are also invited to come in person to reapply. Once processed, you will be able to enroll in classes. You will receive a letter with your student id number in it if you need it.

Technology Related FAQs

1. What is my student network account? 
 

  • Your username is composed by W + your student ID (Example: W1234567). This information can be found on your student ID card or registration records.


2. What is my Password?
 

To obtain a password, please visit the Password Self Service site www.frederick.edu/passwords

  • If you don’t know your password, or your password has expired, select “Forgot my Password” and provide the system with the requested authentication information as prompted.
  • Maximum Password length: Your new password must be at least 12 characters long and contain uppercase and lowercase characters. It must also contain at least one number character or non-alphabetic character, for example, an exclamation mark.
  • Maximum Password Age: 3 months (i.e. you will be required to change your password every 90 days)
  • Your new password will be the same for your Outlook email, PeopleSoft, and Blackboard access

3. How do I know my email account?
 

Your email account is composed by the first initial of your name + your last name + the last three digits of your student [email protected]. (Example: [email protected].


4. I registered for class but I can’t access my Blackboard account.

Please verify that you are currently enrolled in a Blackboard course. If you are enrolled and are still experiencing issues with your Blackboard account please contact your instructor directly.

Please note: Blackboard access will be made available one week prior to the class start date. If you register during the week prior or week after the class start date, the class generally will be available by 10:00 a.m. the next business day.

 

5. I don’t get emails from my instructor sent from Blackboard.

All email generated in Blackboard will be delivered to the email address that you've registered with Blackboard. You must keep your email address current. To update your email address in Blackboard:

  • Login to Blackboard
  • Locate the Tools menu on the left side of your welcome page.
  • Click on "personal information," then "edit personal information." Enter the correct myFCC email address and hit "submit." Any new emails generated within Blackboard will go to that address.
 

6. Why is my Blackboard course not listed?
 

  • Please verify that you are currently enrolled in the Blackboard course.
  • If you are enrolled and are still experiencing issues with viewing your Blackboard course, contact your instructor directly to verify that the course has been made available for student access.
  • If you are registered in advance for a future semester, then the class may not be opened yet and you may try again one week before the class starts.
 

7. How do I change my name on my email address?

To change or update your e-mail address, please complete and submit the “change of name form” to the Registration and Records office. Make sure to check the box asking to "change the e-mail account to match the name.” The form is located here.

8. How do I configure myFCC email on my mobile device?
 

Please see the information below for setting up your mobile device with your myFCC account:

If you have previously setup your myFCC email on your mobile device, you will have to delete your existing FCC account and then re-add it.  When you go through the process of creating a new account, select the Exchange email type (not Outlook.com). After selecting the Exchange email type, please enter the following information in the appropriate fields:

  • Email: first initial + last name + last three digits of your student ID @myfcc.frederick.edu (example: [email protected])
  • Password: (Your myFCC password)
  • Server: Outlook.office365.com
  • Username:  W + Your Student ID @myfcc.frederick.edu (example: [email protected])


Please note that we do not offer support for individual mobile devices. If you are unable to make the proper adjustments to your settings, we recommend you get help from your cell provider or the phone's manufacturer.
 

 

9. How do I forward myFCC email to my personal email account?
 

Students are expected to check their College email account regularly. If a student elects to forward his/her College email to another email account, the student remains responsible for any material not received because of any defect in the forwarding mechanism or the destination account.
Please see the information below for setting up email forwarding within your FCC email account:
 

  • Log into your Outlook email account using the Outlook Web login.
  • Click on the Settings gear in the upper right-hand of your screen.
  • Select "Options".
  • Within Options, click on the "Forwarding" link on the left-hand side of your screen.

(Note: If “Forwarding” does not appear immediately, select the drop down arrow beside the “Mail” tab to expand the Options, and then select the drop down arrow beside the “Accounts” tab to display the “Forwarding” tab.)

  • Under the "Forwarding" heading, select “Start forwarding” and enter your external email address.
  • Check the “Keep a copy of forwarded messages” box.

(Note: If you do not select this, nothing sent to your Outlook email account will be saved in your FCC mailbox.)

  • Select “Save” at the top of the “Forwarding” header.


10. Student – Microsoft Office installation
 

Please see the information below for downloading Microsoft Office from your FCC email:
 

  • Once logged into your FCC email account, select the Settings gear icon in the upper right corner of Outlook Web App.

  • From the Settings list, select Office 365 settings.

  • Once inside the Office 365 settings, select Software.

  • Once on the Software page, select Office and click Install.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

  • Please note that we do not offer support for personal computers. If you are unable to complete, or experience issues with the installation, we recommend contacting Microsoft directly.


11. Is there wi-fi access at FCC?

12. How do I clear my cache and Cookies?
 

Google Chrome:

  • Open Chrome
  • On your browser toolbar, click the Chrome Menu on the top right of the browser window.
  • Point to More Tools, and then click Clear browsing data.
  • In the “Clear browsing data” box, click the checkboxes for Cookies and other site and plugin data and Cached images and files.
  • Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data you want to delete. Choose the Beginning of time to delete everything.
  • Click Clear browsing data.
  • Close the Google Chrome window and reopen.


13. Does FCC offer software discounts for students?
 

Yes, FCC offers software at a reduced cost for students, faculty, and staff, including Microsoft, Adobe, and several other software packages. Terms and conditions apply. 14. How do I sign up for FCC Alert?
 

FCC Alert is a service free of cost to FCC students and they can sign up as soon as they register for classes. To sign up to FCC Alert, go to www.frederick.edu/fccalert.
If you are a student, faculty or staff member, please click the "Signup!" link and enter your information in the required fields to create your account.

  • Create a user name of your choice and enter it in the blank space (point at the blank field)
  • Enter your fist and last name in the required fields (point at the fields)
  • Create and enter your own password in the required fields and confirm it (point at the fields)
  • Use the Opt-out by drop down arrow to select the date you want to stop receiving FCC Alert messages (ex. Your graduation month\year)
  • In the Mobile Phone (TXT) field, enter your phone number including the area code and select a carrier from the drop down list. You can also select an alternate carrier if your first carrier choice did not work. For instance, (Demo) if carrier is Sprint PCS but it was not recognized, then you can select Sprint PCS (Alternate). You can also choose to be notified by email.
  • Agree to Terms of Service by clicking the check box
  • Input that activation code in the “Validation Code” field and click on “Validate”. You are now signed to FCC Alert and ready to receive notifications.

Wifi Access

Wireless access to Internet is available at the main campus and at the Monroe Center. This service allows community end-users to access the campus network resources from wireless devices or portable computers. Staff, students, and visitors with mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones can access the public Wi-Fi. FCC is an encrypted connection for public use.
