FCC Accreditation Reaffirmed
07/14/2025

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) recently reaffirmed the accreditation of Frederick Community College (FCC), an act that is always a strong endorsement of the College’s performance of its mission, progress, and promise.

In the Commission’s own description, “The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), through accreditation, mandates that its member institutions meet rigorous and comprehensive standards, which are addressed in the context of the mission of each institution and within the culture of ethical practices and institutional integrity expected of accredited institutions.” Reaffirmation of accreditation is a formal decision by MSCHE, acknowledging that FCC continues to meet rigorous standards of quality and effectiveness.

“Progress is measured not just by a commitment to excellence, but a demonstration of excellence,” said FCC President Dr. Annesa Payne Cheek. “The Middle States reaffirmation recognizes FCC’s demonstration of academic excellence, student-centered planning, and mission-driven decision-making. It also reflects the collaborative work of our employees – faculty and staff - across all levels of the College, to serve our students and our community.”

The decision, made during the Commission’s June 26 meeting, followed a 2 ½ year comprehensive Self-Study by FCC and MSCHE’s campus evaluation visit earlier this year. The College’s next full accreditation review is scheduled for 2032–2033.
