FCC Baseball Team Headed to its 8th World Series in School History
05/10/2022

After winning the Region 20 D2 postseason tournament, the FCC baseball team is headed to the NJCAA D2 World Series in Oklahoma later this month.

This is the eighth time in school history that FCC baseball has made it to the World Series, five of which have been under the leadership of current Head Coach Rodney Bennett.

The Cougars are nationally ranked second among all NJCAA D2 baseball programs and will enter the World Series with an overall record of 42-5. They are on an 18-game winning streak.

“This amazing group of student athletes have worked hard all year and we are thrilled for them that they will get to experience playing in a college World Series,” said Dr. Thomas Powell, FCC Interim President. “I congratulate Head Coach Rodney Bennett and assistant coaches Steve Insley, Evan Evans, and Dan Gerjets and I thank them for their incredible leadership. We will all be cheering them on as they represent Frederick Community College on the national stage.”

The Cougars won the Region 20 D2 Championship by going 3-0 in postseason play, winning by the scores of 10-5, 7-4, and 9-4. This is the third year in a row that the Cougars have won the region championship, and the second year in a row that they have qualified for the World Series.

The World Series will be played at the David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, OK and will begin on May 28. Match ups will be announced on May 24.
