Frederick Community College (FCC) marked a major milestone in its mission to educate, empower, and prepare a diverse regional workforce as it celebrated its 67th Commencement Ceremony at Mount St. Mary’s University, Knott Arena.
Proof of FCC’s commitment to developing skilled graduates ready to lead, serve, and thrive in today’s economy is evident in the Class of 2025.
“You deserve to be in every room you walk into—not just as an observer, but as someone who adds value, asks good questions, offers new perspective, and helps shape what happens next.” These were the words FCC President Dr. Annesa Payne Cheek shared with the graduates. She reminded them of the importance of grit, adding, “Research says grit is one of the best predictors of future success. Not talent. Not luck. Not even IQ. But grit.”
What does grit look like? “Every time I didn’t believe in myself, my dad would tell me, ‘Never give up and never surrender.’ Those words have stuck with me... I’ll always be grateful to them for the sacrifices they made so I could grow into the best version of myself.” said
Giulietta Jafari, who earned an Associate of Arts in English and an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies.
