STEM Program Offers $10,000 Scholarship for FCC Students Transferring to Mount St. Mary’s
01/27/2022
Frederick Community College students majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field and who have demonstrated financial need may qualify for a $10,000 a year scholarship if they transfer to Mount St. Mary’s University to continue their STEM education.

Through the C3STEM program, Pell-eligible students can receive the scholarship as well as cohort support when they transfer to the Mount to earn their Bachelor of Science degree.

“This is truly an exciting opportunity for FCC students in our STEM fields,” said Dina Yagodich, FCC mathematics professor. “The program offers significant financial assistance paired with the unique opportunity to be part of a cohort. This is intended to help underrepresented, Pell-eligible students transition successfully from FCC to Mount St. Mary’s and thrive as they continue their education and future career in STEM.”

Located in Frederick County, Mount St. Mary’s University offers FCC students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree while remaining close to home.

“At Mount St. Mary’s, you can pursue your Bachelor of Science degree in STEM in small classes with individual attention from faculty like you have come to expect at FCC,” said Dr. Rosie Bolen, Ph.D., MSMU biology professor and principal investigator on the grant. “Our rigorous and diverse curriculum provides excellent preparation for graduate school and/or a career in STEM and is enhanced through an emphasis on experiential learning in the form of hands-on mentored research with faculty as well as off-campus internship experiences.”

Applications to the program are being accepted now until March 1, 2022.
