EARN Maryland Grant Workforce Training

Access fully funded workforce training through the EARN (Employment Advancement Right Now) Maryland grant program, administered by the Maryland Department of Labor. Participation means the skills you learn can lead directly to employment and career growth right here in Frederick County.

Training, Credentials, and Job Assistance at No Cost to You!

Eligible Frederick County residents can now access fully funded workforce training in manufacturing and logistics. Made possible through Frederick Community College's selection for the EARN (Employment Advancement Right Now) Maryland grant program, administered by the Maryland Department of Labor, this opportunity connects you with real training for real jobs right here in Frederick County. EARN Maryland is a state-funded, industry-led program that brings together employers, colleges, and community partners so the skills you build lead directly to employment and career growth.

EARN Program Information

The EARN Maryland program at FCC is a coordinated partnership with Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) and the Frederick County Local Management Board (LMB). Grant funding can support up to 60 participants with training, credentials, and support services for success in securing employment.  Training leads to careers with an average starting wage of $22/hour, including roles such as:

  • Biological Technician
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B
  • Logistics Supervisor
  • Mechanical Technician

Designed for eligible Frederick County residents, there is no cost to participate in the EARN Maryland program.

  • In-person classes meet two to three times per week at Frederick Community College in the evening for six weeks.
  • No prior experience is required
  • Free supportive services may be available for qualified participants, including childcare, transportation, laptops, driving permits, and Adult Education/ESL classes

After completing a required OSHA-10 certification preparatory class, continue in your chosen track:

  • Biotech Bootcamp
  • Certified Logistics Technician
  • Mechanical Technician
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B

Mechanical Technician and CDL Class A or Class B

  • January 2027
  • June 2027

To be considered for EARN grant-funded training, you must be:

  • A Maryland resident or employee of a Maryland business
  • 16 years of age or older (18+ for CDL classes)
  • Available to attend the full training course
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Actively seeking employment following the training and interview process

Priority consideration is given to individuals from the ENOUGH community and those facing barriers to employment.
