Disability Access Services

The Disability Access Services (DAS) office at Frederick Community College (FCC) provides support and individualized accommodations for eligible students with disabilities to ensure equitable access to education. To receive services, students must complete an interactive process that includes submitting an application and medical documentation, followed by an intake meeting with a DAS counselor to develop a success plan. Beyond academic accommodations, the office offers sign language interpreting, assistive technology, and transition coaching, while empowering students to become effective self-advocates throughout their college experience.

Steps to Obtain Disability Resources

Before requesting accommodations for FCC courses, students must have submitted an Application for Admission and be issued a student ID number. DAS can always answer any accommodations questions before applying to FCC. This ensures that your student record is fully established within our system, allowing for a seamless transition into the support services you need. Our team is dedicated to guiding you through this preliminary phase to ensure you are ready to succeed from your very first day on campus.

To begin your Request for Accommodations at FCC, students must do the following:

Four people sit in a semi-circle on dark leather rolling chairs in a modern lounge area, each using a tablet resting on an attached swivel desk. On the left, a man in a white Cougars hoodie and light-wash jeans smiles toward three women who are also engaged in the conversation.

1. Submit Request for Services

Upload your disability documentation while completing the Request for Services in Accommodate. If you cannot upload it directly, you may submit it via:

Email: [email protected]
Fax: 301.624.2778
In Person: Annapolis Hall (A105)
Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Disability Documentation Guidelines

Students are expected to complete their own applications. For assistance, contact DAS at 301.846.2408 or [email protected].

A woman with long blonde wavy hair and black-rimmed glasses sits at a light-colored wooden desk, focused on her laptop. She wears a blue blouse, a black blazer, and a statement necklace.

2. Schedule Meeting with DAS Staff

Once you have submitted your request and documentation, monitor your FCC email. You will receive instructions to schedule an intake appointment with a DAS counselor, which can be held either in-person or virtually. This meeting is an essential step in finalizing your accommodations and ensuring all your specific learning needs are addressed. During the session, you will work collaboratively with your counselor to establish a support plan that fosters your academic success at the college.

3. Participate in the Interactive Process

During your intake appointment, you will discuss your learning experience and documentation to develop a tailored accommodation plan. Once finalized, a link to your decision letter will be sent to your FCC email.

Open the link and sign the form electronically.

Approved accommodation letters will then be automatically sent to your professors, ensuring your support is in place for the upcoming semester.
