AAPC Certified Professional Biller (CPB®)

Upon successful completion of this two-course series, you are eligible to sit for the AAPC Certified Professional Biller (CPB®) exam offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). The CPB® is a nationally recognized credential validating expertise in medical billing and revenue cycle management. The certification exam fee and a one-year AAPC membership are included in program costs.

AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC®)

Upon successful completion of this three-course series, you are eligible to sit for the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) exam offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). The CPC® is the most widely recognized medical coding credential in the United States. It validates your ability to accurately code diagnoses, procedures, and services across medical specialties. The certification exam fee and a one-year AAPC membership are included in program costs. The CPC® credential is also eligible for academic credit conversion.

Academic Credit Conversion

Upon successful completion of the Certified Professional Coder program, earn your AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) Certification, and you can apply for academic credit toward a degree, certificate, or transfer program at Frederick Community College.

Medical Billing Workforce Training Certificate

Upon successful completion of this 2-course sequence, you are eligible to receive this Construction & Applied Technologies Institute credential that documents your medical billing skills and prepares you to earn the industry-recognized AAPC Certified Professional Biller (CPB) credential. Courses cover all aspects of the revenue cycle, payer requirements, and provider reimbursement through sound billing practices across a variety of medical specialties.

Medical Coding Workforce Training Certificate

Upon successful completion of this 3-course sequence, you are eligible to receive this Construction & Applied Technologies Institute credential that documents your medical coding skills and prepares you to earn the industry-recognized AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential. Courses cover official industry coding manuals for CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS, and prepare you to accurately code patient encounters across a variety of medical specialties.

Eligibility Requirements

• Participants are required to successfully complete the course series identified as a Workforce Training Certificate program, as approved by the College.
• Students may request approval to transfer up to 25% of total Certificate contact hours of prior learning from an accredited institution for select Workforce Training Certificates.
• Please note, course substitutions are not permitted and completion is based upon competency.

Important Information

• Certificates are awarded monthly following course completion, rather than at the end of a traditional semester.
• These programs consist of Workforce Training (non-credit) courses with fee structures subject to change.
• Courses are not eligible for federal financial aid.

If you hold a qualifying healthcare credential, you may be eligible to receive credit for prior learning and waive one or more program prerequisites.

• CAH195 Medical Terminology for Billing & Coding may be waived with any of the following current certifications or licenses: CNA, CMA/CCMA (or other Medical Assistant certification), LPN, RN, EMT-B or EMT-I, CRT, AEMT, or Paramedic.
• CAH185 Anatomy & Physiology for Medical Coding may be waived with any of the following current certifications or licenses: CNA, CMA/CCMA (or other Medical Assistant certification), LPN, RN, EMT-B or EMT-I, CRT, AEMT, or Paramedic.
