FCC’s Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute Earns National and Industry Recognition for Program Excellence and Innovation
This Thanksgiving season, as food and community take center stage, the Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute (HCTI) at Frederick Community College (FCC) is thankful to have been honored with three major recognitions celebrating its industry partnerships, outstanding programs, and leadership in culinary education.
HCTI was recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF), and RATIONAL USA for achievements that showcase its commitment to innovation, student success, and community impact.
The Food Business Entrepreneurship program received the top IEDC honor in the Secondary Institution Partnership category, which assists aspiring food entrepreneurs with skills, knowledge, and mentorship.

HCTI’s Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts and Supervision, Culinary Skills Certificate, Associate of Applied Science in Baking and Pastry Arts, and Baking and Pastry Skills Certificate programs received exemplary status by the ACFEF Accrediting Commission.

HCTI Director Elizabeth DeRose received the 2025 Technology Award from RATIONAL USA and the Center for the Advancement of Foodservice Education (CAFÉ) for introduction of technology into the culinary program. The technology influenced other programs in the area and promoted collaboration with other culinary partners.
“We are thrilled to receive these recognitions for the high standards we ensure in teaching, meaningful extracurricular experiences for students, state-of-the-art facility, and highly skilled, knowledgeable, and impactful instructors,” said HCTI Director Elizabeth DeRose.
