Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a powerful "earn-while-you-learn" model designed to bridge the gap between education and industry. By combining paid on-the-job training with targeted classroom instruction, we help employers build a skilled workforce while giving talent a direct pathway into high-growth career fields.

Apprenticeship Core Components
- Employer Involvement. Apprenticeships are employer driven and frequently used in trade occupations.
- On-the-Job Training. Employers assign a mentor/journeyman who provides 2,000 hours of on-the-job training to the apprentice per year.
- Related Academic Instruction. Frederick Community College provides a minimum of 144 hours of educational instruction per year.
- Structured Rewards. Apprentices receive scheduled wage increases congruent with increased skills and experience.
- Nationally Recognized Credentials. Apprentices earn academic credits and/or a nationally recognized credential and a degree or certificate.
