Biotechnology A.A.S. Degree

The Biotechnology A.A.S. program provides a strong science foundation and hands-on training in laboratory and manufacturing techniques. Students develop problem-solving, teamwork, and industry-specific skills to support bioprocessing and production. Graduates are prepared for employment in biotechnology or transfer to four-year programs in this rapidly growing field.

Program Information

The Biotechnology A.A.S. Degree prepares individuals to work as process operators in biological products manufacturing facilities. Students will combine basic science and communication skills, manufacturing technologies and good manufacturing practices in the course of study. Students will develop a strong basic science foundation with a sound understanding of the major technologies employed in the industry. They will also develop collaborative and disciplined work ethics while consistently practicing problem-solving skills. Upon successful completion of the program, individuals will possess the necessary skills to qualify for employment in a variety of bioprocessing industries.

Success in the program is defined by your ability to apply what you’ve learned in real-world scenarios. This program ensures that every student achieves the following core competencies:

  • Use discipline-specific terminology when communicating.
  • Demonstrate entry-level biotechnology skills and techniques.

  • Analyze the role of biotechnology in society.
