Getting Started
Converting your workforce trainingcredentials to academic credit is a three-step process.
Complete CEWD Workforce Training Courses
Enroll in and complete the required CEWD courses for your chosen credential area.
Earn Your Industry Credential
Pass the required exam or meet the credential requirements for your program area.
Receive Academic Credits
You need to be enrolled in at least one FCC credit course to receive credit conversion.
Contact Registration and Records to apply your credential toward academic credit in
an eligible FCC credit program.
Programs Eligible for Credit Conversion
The following CEWD workforce training programs can result in industry credentials that are eligible for academic credit conversion. Select a program area below to find the specific courses to take, credentials to earn, and academic credits available.
Project Management
Step 1: Earn Industry Credential
- Earn an industry credential as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®). Prepare for the exam by completing the CEWD courses below, or prepare and take the exam independently.

Step 2: Receive Academic Credits

Home Inspector
Step 1: Earn Industry Credential
- Earn an industry credential as a licensed Maryland Home Inspector. Prepare for the exam by completing the CEWD course below, or prepare and take the exam independently.

- Students must be enrolled in the Business Administration or Business Management degree program.

Real Estate

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Step 1: Earn Industry Credential

Step 2: Receive Academic Credits
- Students must hold a valid CNA license issued by Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, or the District of Columbia Board of Nursing.
- Students must have declared the Medical Assisting AAS or Certificate program prior to Fall 2025.

Step 1: Earn Industry Credential
- Earn an industry credential as a Phlebotomy Technician, including NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), ASCP Phlebotomy Technician (PBT), AMT Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT), and/or NCCT National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT). Prepare for the exam by completing the CEWD courses below, or prepare and take the exam independently.

Culinary Medicine
Step 1: Earn Industry Credential
- Earn a Certified Culinary Medicine Professional (CCMP) Certification: Tier I, II, or III. Prepare for the exam by completing the CEWD courses below, or prepare and take the exam independently.

Sanitation and Food Safety
Step 1: Earn Industry Credential
- Earn an industry credential as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager. Prepare for the exam by completing the CEWD course below, or prepare and take the exam independently.

Step 2: Receive Academic Credits
- Students must be enrolled in either the Culinary Arts & Supervision AAS degree program or Culinary Skills certificate program.
- Students must have achieved the ServSafe certification within three years of the date of credit application.
